Obituaries

Glenn Edward Puckett, 79, of Ridgeway, Virginia passed away Friday, December 13, 2024. He was born March 14, 1945, in Patrick County, Virginia to the late Dewey Puckett and Irene Boyd Puckett.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Freda Mae Hunt; brothers, Roscoe Puckett and Douglas Puckett.

Glenn was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeway. He was a dedicated employee of CenturyLink and retired after thirty-eight years of service. In his younger years, he was manager of Mitchell River Band and enjoyed dirt track racing. He was known as, a jack of all trades, spent much of his life tractor pulling, and helping out the Ridgeway community. After he retired, he found great joy in playing Santa and building parade floats for various parades throughout Virginia and other states. One of his floats was featured in the movie “Believe” in Grundy, Virginia. Glenn was loved and will forever be missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Deanna Vass Puckett; daughter, Kim Shirley (Mike); son, Chris Puckett (Melissa); sister, Hazel Farris; and brother, Martin Puckett (Thelma); Grandson, Kailin Farmer.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service with Les Croft officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
