Obituaries

James Doss, 80, of Fieldale, Va. passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022. He was born in Henry County, July 20, 1942 to Claude Marion and Mildred G. Doss. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois D. and Fred Oliver, and Agnes and Albert Gilley; nephews, Steve and Glen Oliver.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda H. Doss; daughter Susan Kendrick and her husband Joe; grandchildren, Joseph, Amber, Abigail and Noah; nephew David Oliver; nieces, Nancy Jones and Janice Ward.

James retired from Dupont with 35 years of service. He was a member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church and attended Fort Trial Baptist Church.

James loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He and Linda rarely missed attending their many soccer and volleyball games. James and Linda also loved listening to Joseph play the piano.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Collins Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am and will be officiated by Pastor Joe Kendrick. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Freedom Baptist Church, 1428 West Main Street, Danville, Va. 24541.
