On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Joe L. Hairston 87, of Fayette St., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest at his residence. He was born on July 4, 1937, in Martinsville, VA to the late Moses Hairston and Lucile Alcorn Hairston.

Joe was a faithful member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. He loved his church and was active in the Choir and served as an Usher.

Those left to cherish his memory include his caregiver, James T. Penn of Martinsville, VA, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 304 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Pastor John Royster, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville, VA.

The family will be receiving friends at Hairston Funeral Home on Sunday, December 1, 2024, between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
