June Wright Mitchell, 76, of King, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born on February 13, 1948, in Martinsville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Willis Henry “Mutt” Wright and Lillian Spears Wright.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 26 years, Lloyd N. Mitchell; four brothers, Gary W. Wright, Donald R. Wright, Tommy E. Wright, Jerry W. Wright; and her sister, Shirley W. McCollum.

June was a devoted member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Stoneville, NC, and attended Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC. She cherished the fellowship of her Ladies Sewing Group, meeting weekly to share in their craft and companionship. Above all, she treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

June is survived by her two children: Jerry L. “Pete” Turner (Alison) and Lori T. Peters (Brian); her two stepdaughters, Jennifer M. Clifton, and Christine M. Akers. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Chance Turner, Chelsea Motley, Cailyn Turner, Madison Peters, Jacob Clifton, and Maggie Akers; and three great-grandchildren: Tucker Motley, Teagan Motley, and Holden Turner. She is also survived by her brother, Carl D. Wright, along with numerous other family members and friends.

A funeral service to honor June’s life will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 11:00am Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Pastors Howard Owens and Jon White. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
