Obituaries

Karen Ann Adkins Lackey, 77, of Martinsville, VA, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024. She was born to the late Beatrice Wingfield Adkins and the late Samuel C. Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Alan of 52 years. Although a widow of four years, she never felt alone. Spending time with her friends and family is what she enjoyed most. She was an excellent bridge player and had a fierce competitive spirit.

Karen helped many students at Patrick Henry Community College as a Student Counselor. Her love for helping people is attributed to her 20-year success with the college.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Lackey (Janine) of Martinsville, VA, and Paul Lackey (Celeste) of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Gracie, Brenna, Jake, Tate, and Samuel Lackey.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville, VA with Rev. Roy McVey officiating. Visitation will be held immediately before the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The family will also receive friends at the home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
