Obituaries

Marie Delois Davis Kirby, 74, of Martinsville, Virginia departed on Saturday, December 21, 2024. She was born March 6, 1950, in West Virginia to the late Roy Lee Martin, Sr., and Lucille Laura Francis Ray Martin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Edward Kenneth Davis; sisters, Izetta Washington, Eunice Martin, Virgil Martin, and Gazetta Taylor; brothers, Alphonso Martin, Corneilus Martin, Roy Martin, Jr., Samuel Martin, and Paul Martin.

She attended Holy Tabernacle Church and worked at American Furniture then Tultex before having to retire early. Marie loved her family, but her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved reading her Bibles and writing down scriptures. Cooking was her hobby until her health declined. Marie was a rare and unique jewel who will be missed by all who knew her.

Marie is survived by daughters, Marilyn Simpson (Eric) of Martinsville and Paula Fountain of Danville, Virginia; son, Kenneth Davis, of the home; sisters, Phyllis Logan, Denise Hairston (Danny), and Edna Washington; brothers, James C. Martin, Ray D. Martin, and Leon C. Martin; grandchildren, Jalesha Davis, Bryauna Davis, Antwon Terry, and Jalen Terry; great-grandchildren, Jaliek Terry, McKenzie Terry, Kyra Herndon, Yuri Conner, Zaiden Terry, and Zaionnie Terry; dear friend, Teresa Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. A visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service.
