Obituary For Violet Ann Turner

Violet Ann Turner, 80, of Bassett, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024. She was born June 11, 1944, in Hinton, West Virginia, to the late Lacy McDowell Meador and Edna Irene Young Meador. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Turner; son, Benjamin Allen Turner; stepson, Ronnie Turner; one sister, Edna Mae Meador, and one brother, Bill Meadows.

Violet was a devoted member of the Peoples Church of the Living God and a committed inspector at Bassett Mirror. She treasured time spent with her family, especially her daughter and grandchildren. In her spare time, Violet enjoyed baking, indulging in late-night shopping, and unwinding by the pool. She loved visiting the beach and spending time in West Virginia. Above all, Violet had a special fondness for celebrating Christmas.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina Lawson; one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Young; two stepsons, Roger Turner, Ricky Turner; three grandchildren, Jessica Wood (Toby), Michelle Marot (Brian), and Hannah Lawson; five great-grandchildren, Gavin Marot, Levi Wood, Zoey Marot, Ryder Wood, Baby Oliver; two sisters, Dallas Jane Tabor, Mary Ellen Reynolds; two brothers, Paul Meador, Benny Meador; and special friends and cousin, Ann Turner, Regina Noble, and Donna Renae Chaney.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM, with Reverend Sydney Turner and Reverend Dewayne Pruitt officiating. The burial will be at Ross Harbour United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of SECU Hospice Care Center in Yadkinville, North Carolina, for taking great care of Violet.
