The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. for Martinsville and Henry County and west to Patrick County, north to Franklin County, and east to Halifax County, and south all the way to the South Carolina line.
Plan on slippery road conditions this morning. Here in Martinsville, about an inch of new snow fell overnight, and light accumulations are expected this morning.
Strong, gusty winds are expected to arrive Friday afternoon and last through Saturday night, bringing cold, windy conditions over the weekend. More freezing weather is possible next week.
Patrick & Henry Community College will be closed. Carlisle, Henry County, and Patrick County schools will have a virtual learning day today. Martinsville City schools will open two hours late. Henry County and Martinsville General District Courts are closed today, and the Horizons healthcare facilities in Martinsville, Patrick, and Franklin counties are closed. The Henry County Administration Building will open at 10 a.m. today.
