Michael B. Jordan to direct his remake of ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’
Michael B. Jordan will not only star in and produce a remake of the stylish thriller The Thomas Crown Affair, Deadline says he’ll be directing it, as well.
Jordan was already attached to star in and produce the film through his Outlier Society production company, but the trade says he’ll be following his blockbuster directorial debut Creed III with the project — which, despite Amazon’s ownership of MGM Studios and MBJ’s deal with the company, won’t be released on Prime Video, but in theaters worldwide.
The Thomas Crown Affair was initially a 1968 film starring Steve McQueen and centered on a millionaire who steals rare paintings not for money, but for a hobby. He soon gets into a cat-and-mouse game with a beautiful and smart insurance adjuster, played by Faye Dunaway in the original.
A 1999 remake saw Pierce Brosnan as the charming thief and Rene Russo in Dunaway’s role.
After a successful launch on Disney+, a second season of Percy Jackson was slated to get underway in the fall, but evidently shooting has already begun.
The Adam Project‘s Walker Scobell returns as Percy, a young man who discovered he’s the titular son of the Greek god Poseidon.
The show’s director/executive producer James Bobinshared a shot of a movie “clapper” on July 31, noting, “Excited to get going on this next adventure. Going to be epic.”
On Thursday, co-executive producer Becky Riordan — whose husband Rick Riordan wrote the bestselling Percy Jackson books and also executive produces the series — showed off concept art of a season 1 location, noting, “they are filming the opening scene of Season 2, and it is perfect.”
The first episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted on Disney+ on Dec. 19, 2023, and by Christmas Day it had drawn an audience of some 13.3 million viewers across Disney+ and Hulu.
Bridgerton alumna Phoebe Dynevor will star alongside Zac Efron in the A24 film Famous, Deadline is reporting. The trade says Eastbound and Down veteran Jody Hill‘s feature is set in Los Angeles and concerns the dark side of celebrity. Efron will play both Hollywood hunk James Jansen and Lance Dunkquist, a wannabe star who happens to look just like the real McCoy …

Amy Adams lets her animal urges get the better of her in the new trailer to Nightb****, in which she plays an overworked stay-at-home mom who, well, turns into a dog. The movie is based on author Rachel Yoder‘s 2021 novel of the same name and also stars Scoot McNairy, Zoe Chao and Mary Holland. In the coming attraction, we see Adams’ character has a very familiar predicament: She feels her old life slip away while caring for her toddler, only to have a different side of her awakened. “Motherhood … connects you to some primal urges,” she’s told, before we see Adams eating off a plate like a dog would and snapping at humans. Later, she comes home “from a run” covered in mud, to the confusion of her husband. The movie hits theaters Dec. 6 …
While Marvel’s presentation ended on Saturday evening, July 27, by bringing the house down with Robert Downey Jr.‘s surprise return to the MCU for two films, president Kevin Feige teased three other films with the help of some major star power.
The studio’s other presentations included a showcase with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach from the just-rebranded The Fantastic Four: First Steps — complete with their ride, the Fantasticar, somehow floating across the stage. That film is due out July 25, 2025.
Another presentation featured Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, two of the stars of the February 2025 release Captain America: Brave New World.
Ford said he was “so proud” to be joining the other fine actors who have been having so much fun in the MCU, expressing, “I wanted to get in on the action.”
He also Hulked out on stage, in a nod to his character Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross becoming Red Hulk in the movie.
That film’s Giancarlo Esposito was also there, to “finally unleash” that he’s playing the villain Sidewinder. It was previously rumored he’d be playing a different character.
Marvel’s spotlight also saw David Harbour, in character and in costume as his Black Widow character the Red Guardian, walking through the crowd to hype up Thunderbolts, his team-up movie with other stars who were there, including Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine).
After a thunderous introduction, Harbour then broke character, saying to his co-stars meekly, “Oh my God: You guys didn’t dress up?”
Fans in Hall H were treated to a tease of that forthcoming film as well, which is due out May 5, 2025.
Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
