Henry County to unveil new Fitness Court

The public is invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Fitness Court at the Monogram Foods Smith River Sports Complex tomorrow at 11 a.m. This court will provide access to state-of-the-art gym equipment for the entire county and comes with an app that will provide free workout plans for users.

Garrett Dillard, Supervisor of the Iriswood District and Dr. Sandy Strayer, Program Officer for the Harvest Foundation will be the featured speakers and a launch-day challenge between the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and student athletes from Patrick & Henry Community College will be held. Also, local fitness ambassadors Brad Kinkema and Casey Alcorn will be demonstrating the seven exercise stations before the challenge.

The Aetna Fitness Court is designed to provide the region with equitable access to free world-class wellness infrastructure that allows users to leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout.

The Fitness Courts are created with adults of all ages, abilities and fitness levels in mind, allowing users to move at their own pace. Users can download the Fitness Court App, a free mobile application, and use the world-class workouts provided as a “coach-in-your-pocket.”
