Olivia Wilde’s next film, ‘The Invite,’ lands at A24

Olivia Wilde‘s latest film has landed at A24.
The upcoming romantic comedy film The Invite has been acquired by the studio after its Sundance Film Festival premiere in a competitive, 72-hour bidding war.
The Invite is Wilde’s third directorial effort after her films Booksmart and Don’t Worry Darling. It is based on director Cesc Gay’s Spanish-language film Sentimental.Will McCormack and Rashida Jones wrote its screenplay.
In addition to directing, Wilde stars alongside Seth Rogen, Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz.
The movie follows married couple Joe (Rogen) and Angela (Wilde), who invite their upstairs neighbors Hawk (Norton) and Pina (Cruz) over for dinner, “where everything that could go wrong goes wrong,” according to its official description.
This marks one of the first major deals to come out of Sundance 2026. After its world premiere on Jan. 24, the film received a rare standing ovation.

Zootopia 2 has surpassed Inside Out 2 to become Hollywood’s highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Walt Disney Studios announced the milestone by sharing a drawing of the characters Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and Gary De’Snake from Zootopia 2 being embraced by characters from Pixar’s Inside Out 2, including Joy, Sadness and Anxiety. The top of the image says, “Congrats!”
The Chinese film Ne Zha 2, which is not a Motion Picture Association release, remains the biggest animated movie of all time with $2.25 billion.
Zootopia 2 is now also the ninth biggest film in history worldwide, having made $1.703 billion in its global gross to date. The film is still available to watch in theaters worldwide.

Walt Disney Studios now has the top three animated film releases of all time with Zootopia 2, Inside Out 2 and Frozen 2.
Zootopia 2 opened in theaters on Nov. 26, 2025, to a record-breaking amount of $559.5 million in five days. That makes it the highest global opening of an animated film of all time and the highest global debut of 2025.
The animated sequel follows the rookie cops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, who go on a journey to discover the mystery of Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan). It was directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard.

Baz Luhrmann’s new documentary, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert, is now in IMAX theaters and will arrive in regular theaters on Feb. 27. It features long-lost footage from Elvis’ 1970s Las Vegas residency and other concerts from that period, narrated by Elvis via a previously unheard interview.
Luhrmann tells ABC Audio Elvis was talking about his life “in such an unguarded way” in the interview. He adds, “And in that moment, we went, ‘Well, [documentaries] about Elvis are always talking heads … they’re always people saying, you know, ‘I put gas in Elvis’ car one day, and he looked at me, and I wrote a book.’ And we just wanted to get out of the way.”
Between the self-narration and the candid rehearsal footage, Luhrmann says people have been surprised at how Elvis comes across in the film.
“I think everyone universally says, ‘I had no idea he was so funny and self-effacing, and humble and kind, and really, really such a great musician,'” he says.
The film also explores the notion that Elvis’ Vegas shows during that period were “cheesy.”
“You cannot see this film and deny the uniqueness of the talent, the energy, and the absolute spiritual commitment to the audience and the music,” Luhrmann says. But that commitment turned into what the director believes was an addiction: Between 1969 and 1977, Elvis performed 1,100 shows.
“I think what happens is, the only love he really trusts is the love he gets across the footlights and the love he gives back to the fans,” Luhrmann says. “And so the only really safe and comfortable place for Elvis is on that stage.”
Despite all those performances, Luhrmann notes Elvis never got to fulfill his dream of touring overseas.
“He never got that world tour,” says Luhrmann. “In fact, the world tour that he dreamed of is what he’s getting now with this film.”

The trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero has arrived.
The first trailer for the direct sequel to the 2023 Japanese film Godzilla Minus One was revealed during CinemaCon, the annual convention for movie theater owners, in Las Vegas on Tuesday. It is set to make its debut online later the same day.
Godzilla Minus One was a surprise international hit and eventually won the Oscar for best visual effects. It eared $116 million worldwide at the box office, making it the highest-grossing Japanese Godzilla film.
This new film takes place two years after the events of the previous one, continuing the story of the survivors from the kaiju’s last attack, according to Variety.
The last moments of the trailer find Godzilla stomping toward the Statue of Liberty on his way to New York City.
Godzilla Minus Zero is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki. It releases in the U.S. on Nov. 6 and in Japan on Nov. 3.
