A Different World is heading back to campus for season 2.
The Netflix sequel series to the 1987 original, following a new generation of students at the fictional HBCU Hillman College, will officially be returning for more episodes.
“We are beyond excited to return to Hillman and continue to tell meaningful and heartfelt stories that resonate across generations. I am thrilled for our brilliant cast and our hardworking crew,” showrunner and executive producer Felicia Pride tells Tudum. “It’s so validating to be bolstered by our amazing audience.”
The show debuted on Sept. 24 and made it onto Netflix’s English TV Top 10 list.
“It’s because of our incredible fans that we’ve received such a swift Season 2 pickup!” Pride says. “You all have watched, rewatched, posted about, created content around, and hosted events for our show. Your support, passion, and love mean the absolute world.”
Pride promises “more Hillman, more college life, more friendship, more romance, more Black joy, and more HBCU greatness” in season 2.
The series stars Maleah Joi Moon as Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy).
Demi Lovato as Mitchie Torres in ‘Camp Rock 3’ (Disney/David Astorga)
Demi Lovato is exactly where she’s supposed to be: in the new Camp Rock movie.
Ahead of the Camp Rock 3 premiere on Monday in Burbank, California, it was announced that Demi would reprise her iconic role as Mitchie Torres in the highly anticipated film.
“Everyone kept saying, ‘Are you gong to be a part of the film?’ and I kept having to say, ‘Well, you’ll just have to wait and see,'” Demi told Good Morning America at the premiere. “So now it’s out, cat’s out of the bag and I’m in it … I can’t wait for it to be in the world’s hands.”
Camp Rock fans were first introduced to Mitchie when the first film premiered on the Disney Channel in June 2008. As an aspiring singer-songwriter in the first two films, she attends Camp Rock, a music camp for gifted teens, where her mother, Connie, works as the camp cook. “This Is Me,” the song Demi recorded with co-star Joe Jonas for the movie, peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2008.
It was previously announced that Demi and Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas would be co-executive producers on Camp Rock 3, but that Demi wasn’t returning. Joe, Nick and Kevin reprise their original roles as the members of the band Connect 3 in the new movie.
Camp Rock 3 premieres on the Disney Channel Aug. 3 and hits Disney+ Aug. 14.

The investigation into the death of actress Hayden Panettiere is now a cross-country investigation in both Los Angeles and South Carolina, sources told ABC News.
While toxicology reports are still pending, sources say investigators are focusing on what drugs may have played a role in her death, and where the drugs came from.
Panettiere, known for her roles in Heroes, Nashville and Ice Princess, died on Aug. 16 after she was found unresponsive and in cardiac arrest at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina.
First responders attempted to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Panettiere’s official cause and manner of death have not yet been announced.
The actress flew from Los Angeles to South Carolina the day before her death, sources say.
The Greenville City Police Department is leading the investigation into Panettiere’s death, with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration assisting, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News last month.
In response to DEA joining the investigation into her death, a representative for Panettiere told ABC News in an Aug. 20 statement, “There’s nothing to be shared at this time as the investigation is ongoing but we are hopeful that justice will be served.”
Sources told ABC News the investigation into Panettiere’s death could be looking into street-level drug dealers who may have provided drugs to the late actress.
Brian Hickerson, Panettiere’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, and his brother Zach Hickerson were present at the scene of her death, according to a police report previously obtained by ABC News. The responding police officer added in the report that Brian Hickerson showed them “the bag of medication Hayden is currently on.”
The report noted that Panettiere had been “temporarily staying” at the residence where she was found.
Brian Hickerson’s attorney shared a statement with ABC News on Aug. 20, in response to the police report, writing, “Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed. As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.”
“Out of respect for Hayden’s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time,” the statement added.
Prior to her death, Panettiere opened up about her substance abuse issues, which she said ran concurrent with her successful acting career. The actress wrote about her struggles in her memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, released in May, and spoke about them in press interviews.
“When I got to the point of looking in the mirror and seeing my eyes had turned yellow, and that I didn’t recognize my body anymore … I went into that doctor’s office and got a blood test, and he told me, ‘If you don’t stop, you’re going to be looking at a liver transplant,'” Panettiere said on the Tamron Hall Show earlier this year about her decision to enter a rehabilitation center in 2020.

Richard Madden will star in a new medical action-thriller series.
Paramount+ has announced Madden will star in its upcoming new show Trauma. It will premiere on the streaming service in all available territories, not including the U.K. and Ireland.
“When terrorists seize a busy London Hospital and take the Prime Minister hostage during surgery, former Royal Marines medic turned ER doctor Jim Marchant (Madden) must fight his way through the building to save everyone inside,” according to the show’s official logline. “As he takes the hospital floor by floor, the balance of power shifts—and the building becomes a deadly battle of strategy, nerve and survival.”
Trauma is the show’s working title. It hails from Lionsgate Television and 42 Management & Production. Prime Video and Paramount+ are set to co-produce. Slow Horses‘ Geoff Bussetil created and will write the series.

Trauma demonstrates what’s possible when strong creative and distribution partners align behind ambitious, internationally resonant storytelling.”
Jane Wiseman, the head of Originals for Paramount+, said, “Trauma is exactly the kind of bold, global and propulsive storytelling we want Paramount+ audiences to experience.”
She continued, “Geoff Bussetil has crafted a nail-biting thriller that puts our audience inside one impossible night with a hero played by the incredibly talented Richard Madden. We can’t wait for viewers around the world to feel their pulse racing alongside his.”
