Fired Martinsville city manager Aretha Ferrell-Benavides was not selected among four finalists for a similar position in Elgin, Texas, but the person they selected has turned down the offer. The Elgin Council did not make clear whether they would offer the job to one of the three other finalists or reopen the application process. A release said they would announce plans in a couple of weeks.

Fired Martinsville city manager Aretha Ferrell-Benavides was not selected as the new city manager of Elgin, Texas.
Ferrell-Benavides applied for the job in April, was selected as one of four finalists, attended an event and a formal interview in Elgin in July while on paid administrative leave in Martinsville, and was fired by the Martinsville Council earlier this month on grounds of alleged malfeasance and dishonesty.
