Arrest made in Danville shooting

UPDATE 11/11/24, 6:00 p.m.:

A man has turned himself in for a homicide that occurred early on Saturday morning. The shooting occurred at Ten 10 Restaurant and Lounge in the 1000 block of Piney Forest Rd. Officers responded to the restaurant at 2:39 am and found 33-year-old Damion Reed suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead after being transported from the scene. Officers also found a 50-year-old security guard and a 37-year-old man that were both injured by gunshots. Khaleel Latwain Rodgers, Jr., 28, turned himself in on Sunday. He is being charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm. Rodgers is being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.

The Danville Police Department has arrested Khaleel Latwain Rodgers, Jr., 28, after turning himself in Sunday evening, Nov. 10. He is being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.

Rodgers is charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm following the shooting that resulted in a homicide at Ten 10 Restaurant and Lounge in the 1000 block of Piney Forest Rd. Saturday morning, Nov. 9.

This incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE 11/9/24, 5:35 p.m.:

The Danville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance locating a suspect following the homicide Saturday morning, Nov. 9 in the 1000 block of Piney Forest Rd. at Ten 10 Restaurant and Lounge.

Khaleel Latwain Rodgers, Jr., 28, is wanted on charges of second degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm.

Rodgers is considered armed and dangerous.

ORIGINAL RELEASE 11/9/24:

The Danville Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead and two others with gunshot wounds at Ten 10 Restaurant and Lounge in the 1000 block of Piney Forest Rd. Saturday morning, Nov. 9. 

Officers were dispatched to Ten 10 at  2:39 a.m. where they found Damion Quayshaud Reed, 33, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body.  He was pronounced dead after being transported from the scene.

Also on scene was a security guard, age 50, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. 

A third male, age 37, suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm, arrived at the hospital by private vehicle.
