Obituaries

Ada Lee Childs Hamlett, 89, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at her home. She was born November 25, 1932, in Milton, North Carolina, to the late Herbert Henry Childs and Lizzy Bell Graves Childs. She had been employed by Tultex, and was a member of Apostolic Temple Faith Church. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, and flowers, and loved helping and ministering to everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hamlett, Sr.; daughter, Hallie Hamlett; sons, Thomas Hamlett, Sr., Charles Hamlett, Daniel Hamlett and Samuel Hamlett; sister, Nora Mae Brandon; and brothers, Charlie Allen Childs and Willie Walter Childs.

Mrs. Hamlett is survived by her daughter, Viola Hamlett, son, Robert Hamlett, Jr.; sisters, Zelma McGhee and Willie Ann Holland; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with Bishop Wavely Cousin officiating. Burial will be private.
