Obituaries

Amy Jane Sherwood, 47, of Mayodan, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025. She was born on August 16, 1977, to David Bowman and the late Betty Ivory Bowman.

In addition to her mother, Amy is preceded in death by her sisters, Gladys Hooker, Janet Hooker, Viola Hooker, and Shirley Ramsey; and brothers, William “Gus” Hooker, Jr. and Tony Branch.

Amy was very family oriented. She loved her family more than anything, especially her grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and loved to help anyone and everyone. Amy cared deeply for her animals, especially her pet dog, Sassy. She worked harder than most and was a caregiver for part of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Sammy Sherwood; daughter, Kristen Massey (John); sisters, Mary Barbour (Dale Waller), Ava Branch, Evelyn Branch (Wanda Vanden), Laura Reeves, and Margie Penland; brothers, Junior Branch and Travis Bowman (Whittney Elliott); grandchild, Jordan Levi Lawson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Goins officiating.
