Obituary For Ann Bolbach White

Ann Bolbach White, a 52-year resident of Washington, DC, and a teacher for 25 years, died on the evening of Friday, September 29, 2023, of a heart attack in Martinsville, Virginia.

White moved to Washington in 1964 and lived in the Chevy Chase, MD neighborhood. She taught at The Madeira School and then at Edmund Burke School for a quarter century.

Her marriage to J. Kirkwood White ended in divorce. She retired to Roanoke, VA in 2016. She is survived by her sons, Father Mark White of Martinsville, and Ben White of New York as well as two grandsons, Jacob, and Raphael.

White was born in Lancaster, PA on July 23, 1939. She earned a PhD in Asian studies from the University of Pennsylvania and taught a wide range of high school history classes and served as the Academic Dean at Edmund Burke. White was a passionate member of various churches, a dedicated scholar and reader, and an avid fan of the Washington football franchise and the New York Yankees.

Services will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
