Aubrey A. Rea, 79, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was born on July 26, 1944, in Bassett, Virginia, to the late Henry Lee Rea and Della Rea. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Rea; three brothers, Robert Rea, Cornell Rea, and Everett Rea; and four sisters, Ada Priddy, Virgie Foley, Linda Hylton, and Vada Southall.

Aubrey loved canning, especially tomato juice, planting flowers, and playing gin. He often enjoyed driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Aubrey had several service stations, repair shops, and race cars over the years, and you could bet he fixed your car at some point. Family was very important to him, as was the time he spent with those close to him.

Aubrey Rea is survived by his two daughters, Terrie Rea Huff and Tammie Rea Hughes; two sons-in-law, Kenneth Huff and Smokey Hughes; one grandson, Brad Reynolds; two granddaughters, Heather Hughes Dulley and Jamie Hughes; also two brothers, Raymond Rea and Russell Rea; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral service will start at 12:00 p.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Tim Wood officiating. A burial will follow immediately after the service at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
