Obituaries

Betty Carol Brim Tudor, 80, of Collinsville, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on October 30, 2023. Betty was born in Martinsville, Virginia, on March 11, 1943, to the late James Robert Brim and the late Dorothy Patterson Brim. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bill Southerland.

Betty, or "Nanny," married the love of her life, Earl, on August 23, 1956, and together they built a beautiful life and family whom they loved and cherished. A lifelong homemaker, she enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, gardening, taking rides through the country, and browsing antique and thrift stores. She was always ready to offer her advice and wisdom. Her faith was unwavering and evidenced through her life and the checks and markings throughout the pages of her Bible.

Surviving are her husband, best friend, and soulmate of 67+ years, William Earl Tudor; three daughters, Cynthia Robin Southerland of Bassett, Tammy Tudor Proffit (Darrell) of Port Orange, FL, and Valerie Beth Hunt (Steve) of Bassett; Two grandchildren, Eric Wayne Hunt (Angel) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Andrew Garfield Southerland of Fort Worth, TX; One great-grandson, Nathaniel Steven Hunt of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Mary B. Dillon of Dublin, VA; and one brother, James H. "Bo" Brim of Stanleytown.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, Jill, Susan, and Michele; and Burwell Home Healthcare, Trea, Andrea, Helen, and Erica, for their care, kindness, compassion, and support.
