Obituary For Betty Harris Minter
Betty Harris Minter, age 103 of Martinsville, VA passed away peacefully at Kings Grant Retirement Community on Thursday, March 13, 2025. She was born February 25, 1922 in Henry County, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Minter. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, James Ballard Harris; her daughter-in-law, Tina Minter; her son-in-law, Jim Marks; and her eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Carol Swinney (Rick) of Martinsville, VA; Ann Marks of Houston, TX; her sons, Jim Minter (Sallie Marie) of Danville, VA; Michael Minter of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by special niece and nephew, Joy and Ramie Mize of Martinsville, VA and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends she loved dearly.
Betty was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville for 83 years, an active member of the Sanctuary Choir for over 50 years, the long-standing Chairmen of the Church Bereavement Committee, as well as a member of various other church groups and committees. She was a founding member of the Villa Heights Bridge and Garden clubs, enjoyed dancing with her husband at the Cotillion Club, and playing bridge, rook, and other card games with friends.
The Minter Family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Kings Grant Retirement Community and Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassionate care. The Family would also like to acknowledge and thank Kathy Carter, Charley Carter, and Jean and Cliff Rood for their many years of friendship, love, and support.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Roselawn Burial Park with Dr. Dennis Knight and Rev. John Fulcher officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Kings Grant Victory Chapel with a Reception to follow.
