Obituaries

Debra Dianne Hairston, 72, of Martinsville, gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at her residence. She was born on August 6, 1951, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Jessie Hylton Sr. and the late Earline Betty Greene Hylton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jessie Hylton Jr., her sister, Carolyn Brooks, and her grandson, Damien Hairston.

Debra was a member of the Divine Faith Holiness Church. She enjoyed watching television, playing bingo and cards, and spending time with her family and friends.

Debra is survived by one daughter, Melanie Nicole Hairston; five grandchildren, Kalah Joyce-Wilson, Shanyia Hairston, Myia Pettie, Jahiem Pettie, and Cornelius Wilson; one great-grandchild, Josiah Harris; a special companion, Edward Hairston Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Services will be announced.
