Obituaries

Elizabeth Ann Carter, 70, of Axton and formerly of Bassett , passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Sovah Danville Regional Hospital. She was born on February 7, 1952 in Ferrum to the late Warner L. Greer, Sr. and the late Eva Mae Young Greer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Leonard Carter to whom she was married 50 years; brothers, Warner L. Greer, Jr. and Anthony Greer and his wife Bonnie and sister, Matildah Thompson and husband Jimmie.

Ann was a faithful member of Fairway Baptist Church for over twenty years. She worked as a park service employee and factory worker. She was a dedicated mother to her sons; loved playing the guitar and piano; was always up for an adventure such as driving around in the snow and going to ballgames. She made a delicious meatloaf and loved her Dr. Pepper. In her younger years she enjoyed riding horses.

Ann is survived by sons, Raymond Carter and wife, Sandy, Brandon Carter and wife, Crystal both sons of Axton and Doug Greer of Collinsville; brother, Clinton Greer and wife, Joni of N. Augusta, SC; sister, Barbara Barrows and husband, Ronnie Hopkins of Kernersville, NC; sister-in-law, Judy Greer of Roanoke; and several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Fairway Baptist Church where a memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm with Pastor Kirk Montgomery officiating.
