Obituaries

Emma Geraldine Ross, 81, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at her residence. She was born on February 2, 1942, to the late Charlie and Mary Ella Ross in Henry County, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Ross, and four sisters, Mildred Ross, Liza Ruth Manns, Lucy Thomas, and Dorothy Tyree.

Emma was a former supervisor at Novartis Pharmaceutical Company for 41 years and 8 months. Emma enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She could always be found watching ‘The Price is Right” and “WWE Wrestling”, and she enjoyed playing the lottery.

Emma is survived by four sisters, Eller Garrett (Thomas), Sarah Moore (Horace), Thelma King, and Elizabeth Williamson; a special nephew who she considered her son, Juan Young; and a special niece, Monica Ross (Boss Lady); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Elder Richard Ross officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. The burial will be at Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville, Virginia.
