Obituaries

Eugene Eggleston, 63, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024. He was born November 2, 1960, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Dora H. Eggleston and the late Clarence W. Eggleston.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lightfoot, and brothers, Dennis L. Eggleston, and Clyde E. Eggleston.

Eugene attended Galilean House of Worship and graduated from Laurel Park High School. He was a dedicated employee at Drake Extrusion for over 13 years where he worked as a supervisor.

He is survived by his spouse, Sharon Eggleston; daughters, Ebonie Eggleston, Ashley Stockton, and Shannon Smith; son, Miguell Stockton; and brothers, Clarence J. Eggleston, Larry D. Eggleston, Calvin B. Eggleston, and Stanley P. Eggleston.

The funeral service will be Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Calvin B. Eggleston of Clifton Grove Baptist Church Kernersville, North Carolina officiating. Burial will follow at Stoney Mountain Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to service. A floating visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service.
