Obituaries

Jack Donald "Don" Phillips, 93 of Penhook, VA passed away on April 22, 2025. Don was preceded in death by his parents Edgar Lintz and Bertha Lee, two brothers, Paul and James and niece, Debbie Webb.

Don had a full independent life up until the last few weeks before his death which consisted of a love of the outdoors, all types of woodworking and making beautiful writing pens. He had a talent for fixing and repairing just about anything. He was a lifetime member of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge in Freeport, Illinois. Don retired from the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, DC where he worked as a skilled book binder. He literally "made money" at the U.S. Treasury Department.

He is survived by a special nephew, who he treated like a son, Daniel Phillips and his wife Denise also of Penhook, VA. He is also survived by several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Kings Grant Retirement Community for the compassionate care he received in the short time he was there with a special thanks to Jamie Turner. Also, the family would like to thank Sovah Health of Martinsville and Henry County for the wonderful care Don received in his final days.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel.
