James Alfred Hunt, 67, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025. He was born November 26, 1957, in Henry County to the late Maynard Hunt and Nellie Sink Hunt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris McGuire Hunt; sister, Vickie Hunt; brother, Stanley Dean Hunt; and brother-in-law, Toby Hairston.

James was a dedicated employee with Hooker Furniture for over three decades. When he wasn’t working, he loved being outdoors and could often be found building, gardening, or fishing. He enjoyed listening to music, but nothing compared to the great love he had for his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Jaime Groce, Crystal Ziglar (Casey), Barbara Chaney (Caleb); sisters, Lisa Hairston, Joyce Mize; brothers, Michael Hunt, Bobby Hunt (Kitty); grandchildren,

Magen Richardson, Trenton Clowers, Jordan Sink, Ethan Groce, Kaitlyn Groce, Adam Groce, Mikie Sheets; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A floating visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2025, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM.
