Obituaries

James “Jim” William Hodge, Jr., 78, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. He was born April 8, 1945, in Martinsville, to the late James William Hodge, Sr. and Virginia “Erma” Smith Hodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer Cameron, and baby sister, Ruth Ann Hodge.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the Aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk in the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed golfing (having 2 holes-in-one), hunting, fishing, and reading. He was the co-owner and co-operator of his pawnbroker firm.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kay Ward Hodge; daughters, Kim Pizzulo (Mike) and Jill Flynn (Kenny); brothers, Jerry Hodge and Alan Hodge; sister, April Behory (Tim); grandchildren, Jessica Vanderwal, Bella Flynn and Reese Flynn; and great-grandchildren, Dawson James and Ronan Michael Vanderwal; several special nieces and nephews.

The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, 1425 Greensboro Road, Martinsville, with Pastor Tim Harville officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
