Obituaries

James Leonard Jarrett, age 82, of Spencer, Virginia passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

Mr. Jarrett was born on December 24, 1942 to Broughton Jarrett and Edith Parks Jarrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Jarrett and sister-in-law, Anita Baker and brother-in-law, Doug Baker.

Mr. Jarrett was a graduate of the Danville Technical Institute and a member of Fieldale Baptist Church. He served in the Virginia National Guard. He was retired from Dupont, where he was a plant engineer.

James is survived by his wife, Regina Lynn Baker Jarrett of 58 years, one son, James Leonard Jarrett II, brothers-in-laws,, Jeff Baker and Patrick Baker and sister-in-laws, Ann M. Jarrett and Bonnie Baker. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; Cathy Chambley, Crystal Jackson, Summer Pendley, Mackenzie Baker, Phillip Chambley, Michael Baker, Matthew Baker, Steve Rae and Boddy Rae. Great-nieces and nephews; Kyleigh Flood, Carly Jackson, Colby Jackson, Madelyn Baker, Paxton Baker and Edyn Baker.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jun 26, 2025 at Fieldale Baptist Church, 175 Church Hill Road, Fieldale, VA 28089 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00AM with Reverend Allen Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
