Obituary For James Wade Kidd Sr.

James Wade Kidd Sr., son of the late Willie (Ben) Kidd and Bertha L. Kidd transitioned on October 21, 2023 at Franklin Health & Rehabilitation Center, Rocky Mount, Virginia. He was born August 11, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia where He attended Pittsylvania County Public Schools. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Kidd; daughter, Amaryllis Kidd; two brothers, Fred and Roye Kidd; and one sister, Eddie (Inez) Walker.

He professed his faith in Christ at an early age where he became a member of Greater Mount Parrish Missionary Baptist Church. He faithfully attended Sunday School, Sunday Service and Wednesday night’s Bible and Prayer Service. During His time on the battlefield at Mount Parrish, he served as a Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, President of Men’s Ministry, a member of the Finance Committee and Male Chorus. Other organizations included a member of 3131 J McGuffin Lodge and as President of Rebecca Mullins Foreign Mission Area E of Cherry Stone Association. During his timeline he worked as a farmer and was employed at Good Year Tire & Rubber Co. until his early retirement.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons, James Kidd Jr (Lakisha) of Lynchburg, Virginia and Cornelius Cobbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Valeire Kidd of Martinsville, Virginia; Loretta Kidd of Fieldale, Virginia and Donna Scott (Arnell) of Petersburg, Virginia; four grandsons; Jermaine Kidd, Corneil Cobbs Jr., Bryson Elam and Justin Kidd; two granddaughters, Charlie Clawges and Jada Kidd; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Junior Campbell (Janie) of Penhook and a host of loved ones and friends.

The Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service, 1425 Greensboro Road, Martinsville, Virginia.
