Jerry “Poppy” Wayne White, Jr., 62, of Spencer, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born October 21, 1962, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Jerry Wayne White, Sr. and Linda Wagoner White.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Terri White.

Jerry was a man of the Christian faith who lived a life of service, love, and hard work. He was employed by Bassett Walker for more than thirty years as a dedicated maintenance worker. He was a lifelong resident of the community he grew up in. Jerry attended G.W. Carver and Cornerstone Christian Academy. He was married to his loving wife, Teresa, for forty-four years, and was a devoted husband, father, and especially proud “Poppy” who cherished his grandbabies. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Fix’It”, Jerry had a remarkable ability to repair anything and was always lending a helping hand to others. He loved being outdoors, constantly staying busy and never one to sit still. His generous spirit was evident to all who knew him – he was truly the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. Jerry’s kind heart, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family will be remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Teresa; daughters, Christy Foley (Jeff) and Shannon Cassell (Eric); Sister, Kim Plaugher (Eddie); brother, Charlie White (Sandy); grandchildren, Brett Foley, Carrie Cassell, Cameron Cassell, and Addyson Foley; special niece, Amber White; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at his home. To ensure that everyone is comfortable for the celebration of “Poppy’s” life, the family kindly requests that you bring your own chair.

The family will receive friends and extended family at the residence.
