Joseph Marion Flanagan, Jr., 73, of Martinsville, Va. passed away Friday, September 5, 2025. He was born March 3, 1952, in Martinsville to Joseph Marion Flanagan, Sr. and Doris S. Washburn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Holland Flanagan, and brother, Tony Flanagan.

He is survived by his daughters, Joanna Marie Powell and Jill Springer; stepfather, Homer Washburn; stepdaughter, Becky Jackson; stepsons, Bobby Eggleston, Billy Eggleston and Jimmy Eggleston; half-brothers, Clyde Flanagan and Curt Washburn; half-sisters, Wendy Barnes and Crystal Redd. He is also survived by many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe was a great athlete who enjoyed playing softball and especially baseball. He also loved to fish and play pool.

The family will have a private memorial service.
