Justin Zachery “Zach” Pruitt, 28, of Axton, Virginia, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025. He was born July 18, 1996, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Donald Jeffrey Pruitt and Kathy Jane Harris Pruitt.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Franklin R. Harris; maternal grandfather, Joe Pruitt, Jr.; two aunts, Gloria Dawn Harris and Elizabeth Ann Harris.

Zach was a hardworking and adventurous soul who found joy in both his work and his passions. Since high school, he worked alongside his father in construction, operating heavy machinery and building a strong bond through their shared labor. He was a proud member of Beckham United Methodist Church and a graduate of Tunstall High School, Zach embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved fishing, riding dirt bikes, and cooking, always eager to try new foods. His love for travel knew no bounds – he was happy anywhere as long as he was on the go. Music played a significant role in his life, with Mac Miller being a favorite artist. His tattoos told the story of his experiences, each one a meaningful piece of his journey. Watching wrestling matches with his dad were a favorite pastime, and he often put his brother, Shawn, to the test by practicing moves he saw. Above all, Zach had an incredible heart, touching the lives of those around him with his kindness and passion for life.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Christopher “Shawn” Pruitt (Megan); maternal grandmother, Hazel Y. Harris; paternal grandmother, Barbara D. Pruitt; aunt, Cathy Jane Pruitt Dunn; uncle, Jerry Wayne Pruitt; first cousin, Nicholas Kaine Harris; and his childhood friend, James Brinkley.

The family will gather privately to honor the memory of Zach Pruitt.
