Lillie Mae Hairston, 94, of Bassett, departed this earthly journey on Monday, July 25, 2022, at her daughter’s home. She was born on November 18, 1927, to the late Rev. Belvie D. Hairston and the late Ethel Mae Ingram Hairston. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Conchita Hairston, Lillie Madrew Hicks and Virginia Ann Hairston; brothers, Winfred Hairston, Early Reed Hairston and Walter Hairston; sisters, Viola Wade, Lessie Via, Mary Miller, Ethel Carleen Hairston and Virginia Easley.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 69 years, Robert Hairston, Sr.; sons, James (Peggy) Baker of Greensboro, NC, Cephis (Erika) Hairston of Roanoke, VA, Robert Hairston, Jr. of Bassett, VA and Rodney (Sarah) Hairston of Radford, VA; daughters, Odean (Ben) Shelton of Cascade, VA, Georgia (Lee) Smith of Roanoke, VA, Vivian Hairston, Diane Hairston both of Bassett, VA and Mattie Hairston of Fieldale, VA; brother, Terry Hairston of White Plains, NY; sister, Grace Ann Wilson of White Plains, NY; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
