Obituaries

Lonell Dodson, 70, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024. He was born May 28, 1953, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Annie Dell Claybrooks Dodson and Robert Thomas Dodson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Taylor.

Lonell proudly served his country in the United Stated Navy. He was a member of Agape Bible Christian Fellowship and a graduate of George Washington Carver High School. He served as an usher at Agape Bible Christian Fellowship and loved watching football.

He is survived by his sisters, Claudine Taylor, Romain Thompson, Faye Parker; brother, Robert Dodson; granddaughters, Ashley McCullough, Ayana Hart; and special friend of twenty-two years, Donna Lee.

The funeral will be Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Agape Bible Christian Fellowship with Dr. C. Lee Hagwood, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel from 2:00 Pm – 5:00 PM.
