Obituaries

Lonnie Mason Cox, 88, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023. He was born September 7, 1935, in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Frank Cox and Lula Clifton Cox.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lurenda Cox Mitchell and Mae C. Griffith; and brothers, Connis Cox and James “Chubbie” Cox.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of God’s Mission Church. He loved to garden, especially vegetables, and enjoyed listening to bluegrass gospel music.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Genelle Cox; and brothers, Granville Cox (Pernie) and Henry Cox.

The funeral will be Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM at God’s Mission Church with Pastor Robby Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, 1425 Greensboro Road, Martinsville.
