Loretta Allen, 77, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Sovah Health-Martinsville. She was born on November 19, 1946, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Richard Riddle and Raye Aaron Riddle.

Loretta was a loyal Christian, wife, mother, and grandparent. Loretta obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, believing, repenting, confessing, and being baptized in September 1974, becoming a Christian. After Loretta retired from Henry County Administration, for years she volunteered at Blue Ridge Nursing Home, cheering residents with smiles, conversations, and snacks.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Douglas Allen; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Jill Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Penny & Max Williams; five grandchildren, Hunter, Erin, Jared, Lauren, and Sydney; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois & Dennis Carter; and nephew Matt; and many, many other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Bassett Funeral Service, with Evangelist Eric Bridge officiating. A small graveside service will take place at County Line Christian Church Cemetery immediately after the service.
