Obituaries

Marshall Stanley Roop, 79, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart, Virginia. He was born November 6, 1945, to the late Marshall Edwin Roop and Georgia Hazel Gilley Roop in Martinsville, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his wife, Glennie Marie Rakes Hall Roop; sister, Carolyn Bowles; and brothers, Harvey Roop and David Roop.

Marshall was of the Christian faith and attended Horsepasture Christian Church. He was employed for many years as a maintenance worker for Dillons. He enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens and found contentment in being outdoors and working the soil. Most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Marshall is survived by his two sons, Brain Roop, and Kevin Roop; sister, Jean Ramey (David); special nephew, Ronnie Bowles; and grandchildren, Kale Roop and Paisley Roop.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 7:00-8:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
