Obituaries

Mattie Holland, 92, entered her eternal rest in the presence of her Lord Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in Martinsville, Virginia. She was born February 14, 1933, in Franklin County to the late Nathan Lester Prunty and Bertha Annie Martin Prunty.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Glenn Holland; son, Melvin Holland; sisters, Velma Prunty, Lucy Prunty, Delphine Prunty, Clarie Reid, Bertha Jones, and Mary Prunty; brothers, Homler Prunty, Letcher Prunty, John Prunty, Otis Prunty, and Archie Prunty.

Mattie loved her Lord and talked about Him often. As a woman of deep faith, she loved ministering to others. She was the cook at Flat Rock Primitive Baptist Church where she faithfully attended and found her strength in reading the Word of God. Mattie enjoyed the beauty of flowers. She was the vice president of the presidential council of Mulberry Creek, where she volunteered her time. The world was blessed by her presence and the impact she made on everyone around her will not be forgotten.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughters, Jane Parker (Donnie) and Janet Martin.

A funeral will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with Elder Percy Stockton presiding. Interment will be at Old Fork Mountain Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Muddy Fork Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia. With a visitation one-half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 1:00-5:00 PM.

The family will be receiving visitors at the home, located at 1144 Riley Farm Road, Acton, Virginia, Friday, June 27, Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29 from 1:00-5:00 PM only.
