Melissa Wyatt Oliver, 73, of Bassett, Virginia passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at her home. She was born on September 14, 1951, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Donald Sanford Wyatt and Irene Cooper Wyatt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her husband, Donald Clinard Oliver; and her nephew Hunter All.
She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a deep love for the Lord, her daughter, and her grandson, Chase. After many dedicated years of service, she retired from Bassett Furniture's Weiman Division, where she worked as a Customer Service Manager. During her time there, she formed many friendships, some of which lasted a lifetime. She earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Patrick Henry Community College.
She had a passion for shopping, loved reading People magazine, and enjoyed watching The Wizard of Oz and listening to Elvis Presley. She also had a sweet tooth, and her choice of drink was a Dr. Pepper. She cherished the time spent with family and friends, always enjoying their company whenever she could. She spent most of her days tuning in to the Game Show Network, only switching channels to catch her favorite daytime soap operas. Music brought her joy, especially singing and playing the piano with her mother, sister, and cousins in her earlier years. She had a great sense of humor and loved making others laugh with her jokes and playful spirit.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara Oliver Robertson of Bassett, Virginia; one grandson, Chase Daniel Robertson; sister Regina Price (Bill); and brother, Brad Wyatt; two nieces, Sabrina All and Lindsey Doyle (Aaron); her fur baby, Sassy; and many other family members and friends.
