Obituaries

Nancy N. King, 83, of Patrick Springs, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at The Hospice of Rockingham County in Reidsville, North Carolina. She was born on August 26, 1941, in Hillsville, Virginia, to the late Edgar Nelson and Illa Gardner Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert G. King Sr.; three sisters, Vivian Quesenberry, Vernie Largen, and Sue Lockhart; and four brothers, Gale Nelson, Russell Nelson, Maynard Nelson, and Jimmy Nelson.

Nancy was of the Baptist faith and dedicated over 33 years of service at Bassett-Walker before retiring as a seamstress from Spring Industrial after 10 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Robert G. King, Jr. (Cindy) and Rony King; her one daughter, Donna G. Witt (Roscoe). She was a loving grandmother to Autumn Hyde (Roger), Jacob King (Summer), Anna Lee Witt, and Eddie King. She also leaves behind special nieces, Becky Goad and Angie Turman; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Nelson and Charlene Nelson; her two cherished fur babies, Puss A Boots Witt and Noodles Witt; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Jason Alverson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at The Nelson Family Cemetery.
