Omedel “Omie” Frederick Sigmon, Jr., 75, of Bassett, VA, passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2025. He was born on September 14, 1949, in Franklin County, VA, to the late Omedel F. Sigmon, Sr., and Bevoline Webb Sigmon-Jones.

In addition to his parents, Omie was preceded in death by his sister, Betty S. Hubbard, and his nephew, Jason Hubbard.

Omie was a dedicated employee of Virginia Carolina Trucking until the company’s closure. He was known for his hard work, kindness, and the friendships he built throughout his career and life.

He is survived by his sister, Pat S. Conrad of Botetourt County, and his brother, Mike A. Sigmon (Sandra) of Roanoke. He also leaves behind his nephews, Chris Sigmon and Paul and Travis Hubbard, and his niece, Amanda Sigmon, all of Roanoke, as well as his nephew, David Conrad of Concord, NC, and niece, Anna Conrad of Crozet, VA.

The family will hold a private service to honor and remember Omie’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice in his memory.
