Obituaries

Ray D. Frith, age 93 of the Oak Level Community, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023. He was born on November 17, 1929 to the late C. Taylor Frith and Grace B. Frith. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 67 ½ years, Violet T. Frith and one infant brother, C. Taylor Frith, Jr.

After graduating from VPI (VA Tech), he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After leaving the Army, he spent his career at Frith Construction Company, retiring as President of the Company. He loved his family and enjoyed playing golf as often as he could. He was a man of few words and there was not anything that he came upon that he could not figure out how to do. Ray was a founding member of the Oak Level Ruritan Club, an organization he dearly loved and cherished his friendships with other members.

Ray is survived by his two beloved children, Lance D. Frith and Marie S. Anderson, his granddaughter, Alexandra S. Anderson, two sisters, Hazel B. Frith and Nellie F. Barrow and two brothers, Jesse N. Frith and Jack B. Frith and Ray’s “Angels” his caregivers, Nancy Hairston, Brenda King and Tabatha Minnick.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM with a memorial service immediately following at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Collins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Level Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
