Richard Calvin Cox, 68, of Ridgeway, Va. passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025. He was born in Martinsville, Va. on September 16, 1956, to Connis Calvin Cox and Minnie Lou Turner George Cox.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Lee George and a very special caregiver of 22 years, Daniel W. Pritt.

He is survived by his very devoted and loving sister, Deborah C. Walters; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Richard loved watching NASCAR races, especially when his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, was racing. He also loved listening to blues and gospel music.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 11:50 am on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Bill Preskitt. Interment will follow at Christian View Christian Church, 543 Anglin Mill Road, Stoneville, NC.

Deborah is extremely grateful for all the love and special care Richard received from his many caregivers. Your many acts of kindness will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any of the local volunteer rescue squads.
