Ronald “Chickin” Baxter, Jr., 62, of Rocky Mount, Virginia, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem, Virginia. He was born February 13, 1963, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, to the late Ronald Baxter, Sr. and Elizabeth “Lizzy” Viola Johnson Baxter.

Chickin was a free spirit who loved the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, always finding peace and adventure in nature. Ronald enjoyed hanging out with his friends, listening to music, and dancing, especially to his favorite band, The Grateful Dead. His friends were more than just companions, they were his family, and he loved them deeply. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with Lucy and his daughter, C.J., who meant the world to him. Ronald lived life fully and left behind memories filled with laughter, love, and music.

He is survived by his loving girlfriend, Lucy Underwood; daughter, Connie Jo “C.J.” Underwood; numerus cousins, extended family and friends.

Services will be held at a later date.
