Obituaries

Ronald Harrison Jamison, 70, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. He was born on March 15, 1955, in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late James Ruffner Jamison and Frances Williamson Jamison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Jamison and Donald Jamison.

Ronald attended Lee M. Waid School, then proudly served his country in the United States Army until his retirement. He loved to draw and was gifted at painting and sketching portraits while dreaming of one day using his talents as a cartoonist.

Ronald served in the army from 1972 to 1992, graduating from Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and serving as an 11 Bravo Infantryman, 91 Bravo medical NCO, and retiring as a staff sergeant. He served in places such as: Vietnam and in Orote Point in Guam; participating in Operation New Life towards the end of the Vietnam War; Schweinfurt, Germany; and Fort Meade to name a few. He developed himself by getting his expert field medical badge, taking care of soldiers, helping deliver babies in the NICU units and psychological wards, and caring for patients in need. Ronald took a life full of challenges and turned it into personal growth. From that he became a devoted father and friend, dedicated to being everything that he wanted to see in the world that we live in. He was always showing up and was involved and steadfast for those who needed him in the best way that he could.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Rontae Jones; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Jamison; brothers, John Jamison (Debra), Michael Jamison (Patricia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
