Obituary For Roosevelt Womack

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, Roosevelt Womack 86 of Wyatt Farm Rd., Axton, VA transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at Danville Memorial Hospital, Danville, VA. He was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on June 29, 1937, the son of the late Welford Womack, Sr., and the late Elizabeth Jones Womack.

In addition to his parents, Roosevelt was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Niblett Womack; one son, Darrell A. Womack; two sisters, Goldie M. Divens, and Lorealur W. Law, and one brother, Welford C. Womack, Jr.

Roosevelt was a faithful member of Bethel Way Church of Christ, Danville, VA where he was a member for over 60 years. After many years of service, Roosevelt retired from the Shipping Department of Tultex Knitting Company.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Theresa W. Giles of Martinsville, VA, and Glenda “Brandy” Womack of Greensboro, NC; one son, Teddy R. Womack of Axton, VA; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Bethel Way Church of Christ, 11560 Mt. Cross Rd., Danville, VA with Bishop John Campbell, Eulogist. The burial will be private. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of his daughter, Theresa W. Giles, 1418 Spruce St. Ext., Martinsville, VA between the hours of 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.
