Obituaries

Sharon Gladys Mayes, 49, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville.

She was born February 21, 1974 in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Clifton Roy Mayes and Janie Corns Mayes. She graduated from Ferrum College and had been owner/operator of Elite Bookkeeping & Tax Service, LLC since 2011.

She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church where she served as a choir member, soloist, church treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. She loved attending church, and had the voice of an angel. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and singing.

Sharon is survived by her close friends that she considered family – Mary Edwards, Lisa Spencer (Mark), Debra Horsley (Ken), Betty Hicks (Pastor Bill), and Craig Hicks (Patty).

The funeral will be Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Wayside Baptist Church, with Rev. Billy Hicks and Rev. Craig Hicks officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
