Pastor Tony Harvel Lundy, 74, of Bassett, Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his residence. Born on May 17, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert S. Lundy and Georgia Forter Lundy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.

A devoted servant of God, Pastor Lundy faithfully led Axton Baptist Church for 22 years, passionately preaching, studying, and sharing the Word of God. His love for ministry was evident in his dedication to his congregation and his unwavering faith. Beyond the pulpit, he found joy in woodworking, completing several cherished projects—including building the home where he and his beloved wife shared many precious years.

Pastor Lundy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He later dedicated 20 years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia Dealer Board and 17 years to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, demonstrating his commitment to both his community and his faith.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Lundy; his cherished fur babies, Scooter and Coco; his two nephews, B.J. Minnick and Adam Hamm; his three nieces, Leighann Foley, Amber Hamm, and Autumn Gibbson; and his beloved Axton Baptist Church family. His legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Axton Baptist Church, with Pastor J.D. Harmon and Pastor Vernon Mason officiating.
