Obituaries

Vivian Alvie Belcher Fisher, 86, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023. She was born March 23, 1937, to the late Stovell Belcher and Claudia May Hutcherson Belcher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Jamison (Charlie) and Lorraine Coleman (Harold); brother, Billy Belcher; and grandchild, Samantha Upchurch.

Vivian was a dedicated employee and retired from Winn-Dixie after 25 years of service. One of her most treasured activities was to ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, solving puzzles, and decorating cakes. Most important to Vivian were holidays with family, especially Christmas. A very sweet and kind soul.

She is survived by her daughters, Billie Upchurch (Bobby) and Lyndale Spencer; son, M. Carl Spencer (Elizabeth); brothers, Richard Belcher (“Annie”) and Harold Belcher (Shelley); grandchildren, Trent Upchurch (Melissa), Misty Spivey (Ben), Scott Spencer, Dewey Lee Spencer, Gregory Spencer, Robert Bowman, and Samuel Bowman; and great-grandchildren, Faith Upchurch, Chase Gwynn, Justin Spencer, and “Peanut”.

The Memorial Service will be Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church, 755 Fairystone Park Highway, Stanleytown, Virginia. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service.
