Ryan Gosling’s ‘Project Hail Mary’ debuts at #1 at the box office

For many movie fans, their weekend project was going to seeProject Hail Mary.
The Ryan Gosling sci-fi flick brought in $80.58 million in its opening weekend to debut at #1. According to Variety those numbers make Project Hail Mary the biggest debut of 2026 so far, and also the biggest ever opening for Amazon MGM, surpassing 2023’s Creed III, which brought in $58 million in its debut week.
Disney’s Hoppers, which has spent the last two weeks in the top spot, slipped to #2 with $18 million, followed by the Indian Hindi-language thriller Dhurandhar The Revenge at #3 with a $9.57 million debut. The horror flick Ready or Not 2: Here I Come debuted at #4 with just over $9 million.
Reminders of Him rounds at the top 5 with $8 million.

Teyana Taylor was a nominee at the 2026 Actor Awards Sunday night, but her daughter Rue Rose Shumpert was the star of the show. Rue attended the event with Teyana and appeared to be ready for the spotlight, as she was captured fixing her mother’s dress, striking some poses and even performing a song from the movie Frozen.
She introduced herself in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying, “My name is Rue Rose, and my age is 5.” She asked if she could sing a song, before announcing, “I’m going to sing Frozen, but just in a different voice.”
After being met with applause from her mother, Rue asked to sing another song, and was told she and Teyana would “come back and sing.”
On Monday Teyana reflected on having Rue with her at the awards show, calling Rue “the most perfect date.”
“Rue Rose, thank you for choosing me to be your mama. You make every room brighter, every step lighter, every dream bigger. Bigger than fashion. Bigger than awards. This one felt like legacy,” she wrote on Instagram. “Sharing this night with you is a memory I’ll hold in my heart forever.”
She added that Rue “had a blastttttttt” turning the red carpet “upside down.” “I think it’s time for her sag card!!! lol,” she wrote

Robert Pattinson and Zendaya star in ‘The Drama.’ (A24)
Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are opening up about their first impressions of each other.
The actors, who star in the upcoming A24 film The Drama together, also starred in two other films together that are coming out in 2026 — The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three. In a recent cover story for Interview magazine, the actors revealed what their preconceived notions about each other were.
“Truthfully, I met you because we had common friends, and you were always pretty quiet and chill, which is a little different from my experience of Rob,” Zendaya said. “You didn’t say much, and I was like, ‘Ooh, mysterious!’ Then I talked to Tom [Holland] and he was like, ‘No, he’s super fun and always laughing and joking,’ and I was like, ‘Really? I haven’t experienced that side of him, I guess.'”
Pattinson called the admission “so depressing.”
“I wish I could stay in the mysterious. I’ve learned again and again that if you just don’t speak, people are like, ‘Wow. You’re really intimidating,’ but I just can’t f****** maintain it,” Pattinson said.
To which Zendaya replied, “You maintained it for a while, until we made a few movies together.”
As for what Pattinson’s impression of Zendaya was, he was a bit sheepish to share, saying, “I can’t tell if this is kind of offensive or not,” before telling her.
“Do you know how people always ask, ‘Do you feel a responsibility to be an example to your fans?’ I think you’re a good example to the youth,” Pattinson said. “You always seemed really nice and you are really nice.”
Dream Scenario helmer Kristoffer Borgli wrote and directed The Drama. It arrives in theaters on April 3.

Hope Valley: 1874, the prequel series to When Calls the Heart, premieres Saturday on Hallmark+, and star Jill Hennessy thinks it provides “a little bit of an escape.”
Hope Valley: 1874 follows Rebecca Clarke and her daughter, who settle in a Western Canadian frontier town where Hennessy’s character, Hattie Quinn, runs the trading post. “She’s sort of the go-between and the hub of all these people,” Hennessy tells ABC Audio of Hattie, who’s a widow and single mother.
“She’s sorta used to living on her own, but deeply afraid of her daughter moving off, trying not to confront how scared she is: ‘Oh my gosh, but what will I do when she leaves me?'”
Hennessy says Hope Valley will please When Calls the Heart fans aka Hearties, while offering some key differences.
“In this show, I think they’re gonna get all of the warmth and the romance aspect, in a structure, though, that goes a little broader, can be a little darker, a little more gritty,” she explains.
She adds that the series has “a lot of focus on women’s relationships, and women and men in a friendship/survival kind of way, where there’s no competition, there’s no bitterness, and people are just trying to make it through the day.”
Hennessy, a veteran of shows like Law & Order,Crossing Jordan and Yellowstone, says there’s a “sweetness” to Hope Valley, which she says is “so nice to go to … with everything that’s happening in the world.”
“Even as an actor … it’s kind of nice to get there, and put on the petticoat and the corset, and work with nice people,” she adds. “This is just one of the nicest casts. It is very appealing. It’s a nice — how can I say? — a little bit of an escape.”
